Reading Glasses Fisheye Distortion

[PHOTO/VIDEO] ABOVE = "Foster Grant Wes" / BOTTOM = "Gaoye Gy1701" Every year I wear 2-3 pairs of Foster Grant multi-focus reading glasses because they break or scratch fairly easily. It gets expensive after a while - I've bought 8 pairs so far and only ordered more - so I've been waiting for cheap fake Foster Grants to come out for years and was excited when I saw them at Revain. Unfortunately, they have terrible optics. I have to agree with other 1 star reviews for this product. 1) The center of each Gaoye lens is distorted like a fish eye. At my desk, I'm looking at a large computer monitor through the center of the lens, but the magnification is crumpled. around the center so that the screen is sharp in the tiny area at the center of the lens. Attached photos and videos illustrate the problem (Gaoye below). Imagine working at your desk, staring at that crumpled blob in the middle and straining your eyes with all the distortion around it. This may seem large enough to display, but in practice only a small portion of the computer screen is in focus - maybe 5 words of text at a time. You have to move your head in tiny, precise movements to keep the words you want to read sharp while almost everything else in view is blurry. There is no way to get used to it. 2) The center and bottom of the lenses differ by the wrong amount. The bottom of the lens should be at full calculated magnification and the middle one about 3/4 full magnification, but I haven't experienced that.-- With Foster Grants, looking through the bottom of the lens at my laptop screen and then looking You through the middle lenses onto an external monitor (which is about 8 inches behind my laptop screen), both are sharp. That's the whole point of multifocal glasses. With the Gaoye glasses everything else above is blurry including the external monitor when my laptop screen is in focus through the bottom of the lenses. Then when I position my head so that the external monitor is focused through the middle lens spot, the laptop screen is blurry. In order for me to be able to use these Gaoye glasses I would have to rearrange my desk, but even then the optics are so distorted that I don't think it helps. 3) Some of the clearance at the top of the lens isn't that. That's great too. The optical distortion extends almost to the top center of the lenses (see photo+video) so there is only a thin cut above which is good for viewing distant scenes. optical problems. But seeing how Gaoye/Livho are paying reviewers to leave 5-star ratings, they may be more interested in deceiving customers than improving the product. Positive aspects of Gaoye glasses: A. Half price from Foster Grant or SightlineB. Very light C. Blue light blocking seems effective. D. Stylish, in the sense that it's more fashionable these days to have big glasses (although that's not my taste). If you want plain lenses with no magnification then I think they will do. But then you might as well buy those "Livho Blue Light Goggles" that all those 5 star reviewers were also considering. You can also take a look at "AOO Keyboard Cleaner" to see what good reviews it gets from the same reviewers. By the way, I also bought FEISEDY multifocal glasses and almost everything about them was identical to GAOYE glasses. You can look at the description of the FEISEDY glasses to get a little more information about the optical design. I ended up returning the Gaoye and Feisedy glasses and buying more Foster Grants. PS Sorry, the video resolution was so reduced. Once loaded it is very difficult to see the fisheye effect.
