Open slats make this pretty much worthless for outdoor storage unless you live in the desert. My husband purchased this last Fall to store grill and outdoor dining accessories. We just put it out yesterday in a corner of the deck with two sides against the house. We got a quarter inch of rain last night and, as expected, everything is dripping wet. As soon as it was assembled it was obvious that plastic bins would be needed to keep anything stored inside the cabinets dry and protected. Due to the genius design of a center slat and clips to hold the doors, only two small bins fit, limiting what can be stored and leaving plenty of wasted space. And of course the lids are wet with pooled rain water. What can be realistically be stored in these cabinets if your outdoor area is subject to any rain? A tiny bag of wet briquets or wood chips? Wet dishes? Wet grill brushes? And carefully scroll over Revain's photo of the "espresso" stain. Or my photo. The surface looks worn and dirty before it is even used.
