Review on IFrogz Audio Impulse Bluetooth Earbuds by Jacob Mendoza

SO close to home run

I've been trying to get a decent set of headphones for weeks now. I'm not really an audio snob, but I would like to be able to listen to music that sounds halfway decent. For the record, I've been using the included headphones that came with the iPhone for years. Unfortunately Apple seems to have stopped releasing them with a standard 3.5mm jack as all current phones use the Lightning connector solely for audio. Still using my 6's and really not interested in getting this kind. Since I was looking anyway, I decided to check how Bluetooth headphones work - Apple is way overpriced and poorly designed (I do NOT want 2 unconnected pieces, meaning dropping one and losing it becomes trivial ). It seems that generally wireless headphones are in the $25 range (that's all I'm willing to pay for something that can wear out after 18 months - in my experience, more expensive headphones sound better but don't last longer ) so this sounds as good as wired ones in the $10 range and doesn't fit my tolerance for mediocre sound quality. I had never heard of iFrogz before but found it in a product review after being dissatisfied with my 3rd or 4th try. They sound quite decent - there are certainly higher ones, but for my purposes they are definitely sufficient in the range. The way they don't match reality is in the design. Some of my complaints are pretty minor - as far as I can tell, there are no markings to indicate which earbud is left and which is right, so I have to keep reminding myself which way to lean them when they're in my ear get stuck. Since both cables come out of the control box at the same point, one of them is always a bit too short to tie comfortably around my neck to my shirt collar. That it stays up front means that either the control box is swaying in my path, or the cables or wires are resting under my jaw (because they hold some kind of curve and spend most of the time coiled up). However, a flexible magnetic clip can be used to neatly tuck away the cords and keep the controls in place when carrying. If the control box were built into the longer right hand cable, which is fairly typical, they would be absolutely perfect. If you wear button-down shirts, or maybe even have a breast pocket, you probably won't care about this issue most of the time.
