FULL OF CHARACTER, DO NOT BUY!

I bought this compass to test the quality of a cheap compass so I can teach it to orient. The results were TERRIBLE! The compass was very fickle in my hands and never returned to the same place when I turned both inside and outside my home. So I put it to the test. look at my photos I'm not a geomagnetist, but my house, only 12 inches apart, wouldn't have a 10 degree spread! The compass is very inaccurate and will surely mislead many people. I was hoping to find a cheap alternative to teach 10 teenagers orienteering, but no. If I can't get a good read in my own home, I don't trust him in the woods in any way! In addition to the junk readings, the compass is "waterproof" because it's junk plastic with poor build quality. I know it's less than $10, but this thing is probably $0.10 a print. There's no declination setting, and the "high-speed magnetic needle" has the precision of my 10-year-old to give me direction. Wasted my money and time. It will be returned. The only, and I mean ONLY good thing, is that it comes with an adjustable strap. So DO NOT BUY THIS COMPASS! Buy a Suunto A-30 and invest in a compass you can learn with that will last for years instead of minutes.
