As the title suggests, it does just that and nothing more. This is a very strong case. A little on the heavy side. The keyboard is large and comfortable for people with large hands. However, it has one major disadvantage. While it looks like it's a 2-in-1 case with the lid rotating 180 degrees so it can be used as both a tablet and a laptop, it's not. The hinge stops at about 45 degrees. It's also not easy to detach the iPad from the lid once you've put it back on. It's great in terms of protection, but not so good when using your tablet as a tablet. All in all, this is a really good case if you really need a laptop. Not much if you're trying to optimize its usefulness.
