This Asics design doesn't have the usual tongue found on most running shoes - instead it has a hood-like structure where the tongue on the shoe normally resides. This custom design makes the shoe difficult to put on as the hood cannot be moved or adjusted, and untying the laces has no effect as the hood does not move or stretch.
