We made this to cover up a carpet stain that our kittens immediately disliked when they moved in and has since been torn to shreds. Luckily, they love playing with it so much that they haven't tried to move it again to get to the carpet (yes, they've done it with other toys). The scratching post is sturdy and well packaged, the cardboard scratch mat is as durable as anything made from cardboard and destined to be destroyed, and the wooden base is really good quality! The only thing that surprised us was the lack of a floor, so inside the ball just rolls on the carpet. Luckily the ball seems to distract the little monsters from said carpet, but we expected that. dangling ball. One kitten loves to rip toy balls off rubber bands, but it looks a lot sturdier than most because it's actually attached to a rack with a not-so-cheap clip.
