Review on DampRid Absorber Attracts Moisture Fresher by Rhonda Quire

Get rid of the high humidity in the room - without sweating!

Living in Southwest Florida with its constant heat and humidity since 1981, we have learned a few tricks to protect collectibles from mold and/or rust in unair conditioned spaces. For example, our youngest daughter lives part of the time in Rhode Island, where it snows and the temperature is below 30 degrees. In the meantime, we're enjoying the record heat of the mid-90s with spring flowers blooming and grass growing fast. Since we have a storage space in our "basement" (actually the first floor below our above-ground living space) that is not air-conditioned, we had to find a way to properly store our collectibles, from antiques to paintings. This is how we discovered the effectiveness of DampRid. We haven't had any mold or rust issues in this room since using this product. The main thing is to see how quickly the DampRid containers fill with water. I put it on my calendar to review them once a month and delete/fill in those that need attention. We use everything from hanging units to large four pound tubs. So we buy a lot of refill bags. The price for this purchase was the best we could find so we bought a bunch. This product cannot go wrong. Another trick we've learned to reduce humidity in our unair-conditioned garage is to install an appropriately sized dehumidifier next to the garage door and run plastic tubing through the small hole where the door attaches. Concrete to allow the unit to drain without the drain pan having to be emptied regularly. All you have to do is check the device from time to time to make sure it is still working and that the hoses are properly connected and not clogged.
