USE THESE ADVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK. My desk was built by a local craftsman who for some reason didn't understand that desks were supposed to be flat. But by this point I was already hooked (such a nice OO) so I ordered a piece of glass to wear. When deciding on a second monitor I chose this mount to have a 3.5" C-clamp spacing. And the table was still too thick. XD That's why I moved the fastener - a sheet metal. which screws into the base of the bracket - one screw down. They indicate two, but using a screw gave at least another inch of clearance, so I could place them on my ridiculously fat desk. I was skeptical - started with a lighter monitor at first lol - but the whole setup still seems VERY secure. I filled the base and the space between the glass/wood with cardboard and tightened as far as I was comfortable and it fits well. Frees up SO MUCH desk space, oh my! It's really adorable. I've included some photos of what I did to add an extra inch. Again, use at your own risk. After installation I am very satisfied with this stand. The arms are difficult to adjust, but that's because they're so strong that they don't move once they're in place. It is great! The 90 degree rotation is a nice touch and I appreciate being able to tighten or loosen gas springs with this pull rod. Even the cable routing areas are fantastic, although I wish they clamped instead of screwing to make installing the secondary cable easier. >.>My only concern is that my 27" monitor is obviously a lot heavier and needs a lot more tightening to keep it from tipping down under its own weight. It's fine now, but I'm worried it will wear out. with time. If so, I'll update this review. Overall, if you hesitate, BUY IT. The space it frees up on your desktop is insane, and it's fantastic for working vertically. No more back pain when squinting. THAT lives on my laptop! must be tightened significantly more to prevent it from tipping down under its own weight. It's fine now, but I'm afraid it will wear out over time.
