Setup guides are hard to find but good cheap board

With guide the setup is very easy unfortunately it took me an hour to find a good guide for version 3.0 of this SD shield : I found them by googling "SD Shield 3.0" and click on the iTEAD wiki link. Henceforth, this wiki page will be referred to as "how-to wiki". To summarize: - Install an SD shield on every Arduino you have. Using the labels on the shield and the Arduino, make sure the pins match. - Use the "Compatibility" section of the how-to wiki to find out what position the 3.3v/5v selector switch should be in and if you have ALL 3 adjacent SPI jumpers on the top of the board need to remove if you are using the Arduino board. use. For the Arduino DUE I had to remove these jumpers and leave the switch in the 3.3V position. It seems that for all but the Iteaduino MEGA 2560 it doesn't hurt or you need to remove the jumpers, including for Arduino MEGA. - In the Arduino IDE, use the "cardinfo" example, which you can find via "File" > "Examples" > "SD" > "cardinfo". Then simply upload the example to the Arduino and view the results in the Serial Monitor. Contrary to the other reviews, I didn't have to change the chip. In the card information example (or any of the SD card examples), select between 4 and 10, just leave the example for the V3.0 board. Good cheap board, works so far, no issues after proper setup. For reference, I used a SanDisk Ultra 80MB/s 32GB card. Although, as far as I understand, any micro or standard card should work. The speed is clearly limited, <<2 MB/s, since the recording on the card is done via spi.

Pros

Cons
  • Sad hardware
