Expensive, but beautiful. I ordered a 10-11 inch size and it is actually 10 inches tall. Can't be exact because it's hand cut and depends on how the chips fall, so to speak. :-) As some reviews have complained, it got hot and started smoking or catching fire, my power cord or dimmer controls don't even get hot, so I'm guessing the problem has been fixed. Any electrical device that you leave unattended should be plugged into the Ground Leakage Interrupter (GFI) socket. To be on the safe side, I suspect these people installed the wrong type of bulb, or a bulb rated at more than 40 watts. Secondhand smoke everywhere in my apartment complex makes me cough, but lately I'm not that bad. It's a great light for watching TV with a night light or for a night light. I am very happy with it. I'm thinking about buying another one for the bathroom.
