Review on NHT CS 10 10 Inch Subwoofer High Gloss by Terry Basri

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Gotta love NHT speakers!

In my experience, real hanging speakers are the most accurate despite their inefficiency. My previous benchmark for great sound was my AR3a many years ago. This NHT 10 inch acoustically suspended subwoofer replaces my previous old NHT SW2 subwoofer which had a vented design rather than an acoustic suspension. The final subwoofer was not standalone and required a separate amplifier just for the subwoofer - a real pain in the neck. The CS10 has a self-sufficient power supply, that's much nicer, but the best thing about the playback quality. The SW2 was able to reach very low notes, but the sound was defocused, sluggish, soft to my ears. The CS10, on the other hand, is very focused, you can feel the deep tones physically, but they are also clear, they are distinct. This is best when playing songs with prominent string bass, such as the string bass solo in Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd's "Desafinado." (jazz samba album) or Nina Simone's "My Baby Just Cares For Me" and for the electric bass, the cleanliness and punch in the amazing bass lines of James Brown's "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" or Santana's "Oye Como Va". ". I love this sub.
