This is a great alternative to the hinged or pre-closed bins we use in our closets. They often don't close all the way, and when they're holding foods like cereal or rice, they attract flower moth larvae, which scare us all. We've learned that they live behind our cupboards and we can't get rid of them until we put them away, so ensuring food safety is vital. They work great, you know, if they don't close all the way because they don't snap into place. We're all lazy and want to be able to water from those reservoirs, so I just add a scoop or smaller scoop to things that get watered more often. It was a great way to measure actual portion sizes as well. It's amazing how much smaller the cereal portions are when you measure them! They aren't dishwasher safe so before using them for the first time I removed the rubber seal, sprayed some bleach in with a spray and then ran a short cycle with no heat. They came out crisp and clean.
