Follow the instructions to the T and still warp

The concept seems simple enough, but we can't bring ourselves to twist in and destroy the design. I've even tried putting a heavy pan on top to apply pressure while baking, but then the design started to bubble and shrink unevenly. I really don't know how else to get perfectly resized versions, people keep posting pics :/
