This is an overview of both the Leick Favorite Finds Mission Cabinet side table and the matching round Anyplace side table. I'm going to give these four stars because for $100 each they look decent when assembled and it's all wood construction, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, with furniture that needs to be assembled, the quality control and attention to detail is nothing like IKEA standards. For example, the exposed bottom edges of the lids were unfinished, and there were a few minor imperfections on other exposed surfaces. In assembling the rectangular side table I had to remove and move a small 1" x 2" piece of wood from the inside of the top door frame that will serve as a doorstop as it was set about 1/4" in. too high what interfering with the installation of the table top (one side of the face frame didn't fit properly so the table wobbled) and was too high to do its job. fix because I have a good workbench; I just removed two screws, removed the block (it was also glued on), clamped in a vise and used a chisel to clean up the glue, drilled 2 new pilot holes in the frame and reinstalled with a screwdriver. Maybe 7-8 minutes of work. But I got tired of partially assembling twice, and if there are no tools at hand, it can be a bit of a headache.Second, unlike the round table, which had a tight press fit on a wooden support shelf, the internal support shelf that supports the Bo that of the rectangular side table, fits quite loosely (it's an insert held only by the bolts of the shelves in each corner), leaving gaps between the base and the sides of the cabinet. The spiders are going to have a great day. There was also a middle shelf, but it was too big to fit where it was supposed to, so I just ruled it out. Finally, a few words about the packaging β the parts are securely packed in sheets and blocks of expanded polystyrene; really cheap stuff that makes those little white balls of static fall copiously that stick to everything. When I opened both boxes, these little snowballs covered every nook and cranny of the box and furniture and immediately tried to escape. I probably spent more time vacuuming unpacking the parts to keep those little bugs from sticking to me, the cat, the walls and everything else in the house than I did putting the furniture together. Irony of fate. The point is that the size of the finished product (specifically the rectangular table) in cubic feet isn't much larger than the boxes they came in. You could pre-assemble everything at the factory, which would greatly reduce packaging and production costs (there is a lot of complex manufacturing complexes, equipment and fixtures required to make it convenient for yourself), make a better product, and far too much for everyone save headache . Despite all that, both tables are a good size; big enough to do what they need to do without being intrusive. And they look good enough not to be embarrassed. I'm skeptical how well the finish will hold up if someone puts a drink on it without a coaster, but time will tell. Just be ready with the vacuum hose when it arrives and prepare for some trouble.
