Qshave Review First, it's a razor handle that requires more maintenance than most other razor handles. Inserting or removing the blade and adjusting blade position can be difficult. And if you fail, it could result in your finger slipping on the blade. The instructions show how to remove the razor head by placing your thumb and forefinger on either side of the head and lifting it up. I've found that it requires a good grip with your fingers and when they slip they tend to want to slide off the blade. I believe there is a much better way to do this. This helps to reduce the number of sheets to the lowest value at first, which is one. Hold the pen in one hand, and then press to one side of your head with your thumb. If you look closely at the razor head you will see that there is a small ridge on one side, see image. Use this side to do push-ups with your thumb. This method offers more control and less chance of slipping off the blade. I can do it with wet fingers and no slipping. But always be careful when doing this. Check technique without a blade. I found the blade count setting to be even more prone to slipping and running your finger across the blade. My knob takes a little force to turn to set the number. I've found the best way to adjust this while shaving is to hold the razor by the handle and rest your head squarely on the countertop. Then press down slightly and adjust the setting by turning the knob. This can be done with one hand and there is no chance of hitting the razor blade. Set up quickly too. Razor Review: The razor ranges from very soft to aggressive. I read in other reviews that the shaver was aggressive on the lowest setting. I don't think it's a case at all, no matter what definition of aggressiveness you use. I only see that when the handle isn't screwed all the way in. There are videos online showing how to disassemble a razor for cleaning. Basically you take off your headdress and razor. Turn the knob to the maximum value of 6. Then push the crown against the spring. When you do this the handle will pop out slightly and you can turn the knob further than 6 and remove the handle completely. Then you separated the head, spring and handle. Installation is the reverse order. You need to make sure you screw the handle in all the way. You can stop a full turn less and still have 6 settings, but the razor starts at 1 more aggressively, in fact 1 is like 6 or even slightly more aggressive. In this case the razor at 1 is very aggressive. That may be why some people say the razor at 1 is very aggressive. However, if you continue to turn the handle to the stop during assembly, it will drop to 1, and if you look at the head from the side, it will fully enter the groove. In this position, the value 1 is very soft, the blade practically does not protrude. I have absolutely no haircut in this mode. I tried different settings by running the razor along the edge of the paper. With a value of 1, the blade does not touch the edge of the paper. I compared it to the Feather ASD2 and the Qshave setting of 3 is about the same as the ASD2. The adjustments aren't entirely consistent, the blade moves up as you adjust exposing more of the blade, but the angle of the blade also changes. So the blade behaves differently at different settings. The angle at which the razor can be held varies slightly depending on the setting. My first shave was great but by the end of the week it was terrible. When I shaved, the blade didn't seem to cut at all or very little. Repeatedly shaving the same area didn't cut much and made the skin rough each time. I couldn't figure out why that is so I waited a bit before writing a review. But I think I've finally figured it out. There were several things that caused the problem. First, the razor blade must be sharp. This razor handle does not work well when the blade wears out. That's true of all razors, but it's more noticeable with Qshave. The Qshave doesn't have as much exposed blade (at lower settings) as other razors. This way the change in blade sharpness is more noticeable but I believe the end result is the same on any razor handle, it's just more noticeable on Qshave. I also noticed that one side of the razor cuts differently than the other. Side. If I look closely at the razor, it is not straight, see picture. The distance between the blades is different on each side. I've tried resetting the blade and moving the head a bit, but it's difficult to get it right. With a few tries I get the blade parallel to the razor blade, but the gap is different and I can't straighten it easily, I might even have succeeded once or twice. I think it has to do with the torque of the spring causing the head to push to one side or the other. Adjusting this setting will change the spring tension and you can center the crown by changing this setting before capping. I couldn't get it to work every time, but I can get it to center after a little effort. See side pictures of the head. The play in which the head connects to the handle is different on either side, and this is enough to make the head off-center. But in the end it didn't matter, in the end you had two different cutting edges. I've found this random blade setting to be an important factor in getting an efficient shave. However, having two different blade angles has some advantages. I use the less aggressive side to shave my jawline and neck. This is similar to adjusting the handle position, but it's easier. So it's not all bad. You just have to remember which side is the aggressive one. In my case it's always the same side, the side opposite where you read the sentence number. This is caused by play in the head along with the tension of the individual spring. Over time with Qshave I've found that I've been able to more consistently set the blade to the same position, meaning setting 3 is the same or close to it every day. . If the setting is close every day, the shave will be great every day. If a razor blade is changed every day with the same setting, is it more difficult to use because you don't know what 3 really is, is it too aggressive or too soft, or has the blade worn out? Steps I follow to put the blade in the same position every day to clean the razor and blade, then put the razor head in the same position while holding the razor handle at an angle so the blade due to slides to the side gap in a razor blade. . If you look closely at the top of the razor handle where the blade goes, one side is marked. And if you look closely at the razor head, one side is slightly larger than the other, you can see it in the picture and you can easily feel the difference when you take the head by the ends. Line them up every day and I can get my head to sit close to them. Sometimes I can nudge the plastic a bit one way or the other to make the gap look the same too. A little extra work but well worth the shave, a much closer and smoother shave than other shaving pencils. I have compared the razor blade play to other razor handles I own. The Feather ASD2 has a tighter tolerance, not too tight but fits perfectly once assembled. The Feather Popular also has stiffer stability. And I have a Weishi, and he also has a harder tolerance. Not much, but apparently enough. However, since the surface of the facial skin is not entirely smooth, this does not matter when using a razor. I have found that when I use a new blade and start on a setting of 3 to 3.5 I get a very good shave. And take some time to make sure your razor head fits the same every time. With all of this, it's worth having in Qshave's collection.
