Replacing the Elgato chat cable works great, but only as a short-term solution. If you use the cable regularly every day for a year, you will have to buy several replacement products due to poor durability. I've had to buy 3 replacements since my first purchase in February - it's September now. Over time (about three months), the cable wears out, and as a result, the sound from your headset will break and cut off when you use the chat link. Mind you it will be a few months before this happens and until then the cable is great and easy to use. If you don't mind shelling out an extra $20 for a pair of replacement cables, then I think this product, currently priced at around $10, is a good buy. I only wish they had lasted longer.
