Revainrating 5 out of 5

I hope this post from a longtime Arctis 7/Sennheiser user helps clarify some of the feedback!

I don't write many reviews anymore and wanted to find out for myself why there are so many mixed or bad reviews. I've been a long time Arctis 7 user and have also switched from many other headsets such as the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro; including audiophile kits like Sennheiser 598SR, Philips SHP 9500/Fidelio X2 etc. My wife recently got me a GPW for my birthday which I'm in love with - I usually rant about Logitech products/services although I've heard of previous Logitech ones products and still using MX Master 3 etc. Anyway, back on topic. I bought them because 1) Wireless is too clean and convenient to pass up, so I used my fine-tuned Arctis 7 with SS Engine EQ (even APO Peace/Equalizer at one point). 2) I don't like too many software packages and wanted to stick with GHub (I had no problems). 3) I noticed the positive reviews about it and was very intrigued, also I had a Revain gift card hehe. From what I've read about noise and interference and most of those bad reviews - I work in IT and chances are this is mostly user error. Mind you, this is on PC - I don't know if there are still issues on console etc, but I'm pretty sure they were made for PC first. The surround sound is definitely worse than the Arctis 7 as it's very muddy. I like the automatic switching of sound profiles like in SS Engine. For general use I mostly recommend turning the surround sound off and just turning on the natural "flat" EQ - I prefer true stereo but feel free to play around with other EQs. On the mic side, I noticed a bit more static with higher gain - most mics are the same without a good DAC or sound card. I no longer use a DAC and don't have an external sound card - I've found that the "Broadcaster" and "FM Station" mic EQs work best; did not have to make any further adjustments. When I did this, the noise was a little more noticeable, but not bad. The mic tops the Arctis 7. It's not as terrible as others have reported or from some of the YouTube videos I've seen. Again, user error, I don't know what advanced settings they do in the advanced settings, but using a transmitter or FM transmitter with Blue Voice enabled sounds great to me at around 88-90 gain. YMMW, and be aware that other factors such as wireless interference, RGB lighting, etc. can cause static interference, so be aware and keep the key away from any devices that may interfere; Use an extension cord if you need to isolate the key. I mostly play first person shooters like CS:GO, Apex Legends and listen to a lot of music, but they are mostly for gaming. I really have no complaints other than wish the mic was retractable. I like more open headphones for a more comfortable soundstage, which is why I use cloth ear pads instead of leather. I'm glad they included this because with the two pairs of Arctis 7s I've had, I bought separate cushions for them ($25+ per pair). I've never used Arctis 7 with a wired connection, so I didn't care that Logi only works wirelessly. Battery life is also much better than the Arctis 7; Surprisingly, GHub works much better than SS Engine. Again I walked away from Logi without their office management hoping they would disappoint me. but they were not disappointed. I can't find any reason to deduct a star and I don't understand why these people are complaining about the low volume. I am assuming they are console based or not validating/using all GHub properly. The volume knob doesn't have a stop point like the Arctis 7, but the pickguard is great and the dial feels nice with some resistance. And who uses the chat mix anyway? This is rubbish and unnecessary. With Arctis 7 I also had to use VoiceMeeter Banana. While I like the SteelSeries input/output dongle/receiver, I have fewer cables; Also, VoiceMeeter Banana doesn't need to be running just to improve microphone quality etc., which also sometimes caused static. The sound on them is just very balanced across the board and the mic is crisp and clear (many mic EQ profiles aren't great, just use the ones above). Also try to keep the input volume at around 55-70 and boost it with a limiter or compression. Otherwise, if the input volume (gain) is too high, it will pick up additional hum/noise. Anyway thanks for reading and hope this helps you guys and gals (and clears up some indecisiveness from the mixed reviews!). I hope that Logitech will continue to improve. Keep calm and keep playing - hooray!
