The Bulova Curv 98P182 Women's Running Shoe is an absolute joy to own and wear. It has served me well over the past few months. The Bolova brand has a rich and interesting history and has been well received by watch enthusiasts for decades. Did you know that Bolova aired the very first commercial on TV? The presentation was nice. The box is lined with gray velvet and the watch is stored on a watch cushion of the same color. It even comes with a small instruction manual. There are two hang tags, one with the price and the other with brand information. Transparent stickers are on the front, back and clasps. There is a battery tab to ensure your battery is fresh even if the stash has been sitting for a while. The most interesting feature of this watch is that it has a quartz crystal that oscillates at a frequency of 262 kHz. What the hell does that mean? This means that the inner quartz is electrically charged and vibrates back and forth 262,000 times per second. That keeps the time. This is a fairly high frequency and should theoretically give very high accuracy if the other part of the clock isn't clipping. For example, the way the crystal is mounted, tiny mating errors, and friction can limit accuracy, regardless of the frequency of the crystal. However, this Japanese movement is up to the task. Even after several months of use, I did not have to recalibrate the time with this watch. They sync with atomic clocks over a long period of time and are by far the most accurate clocks in my collection. And the sapphire crystal caseback shows the pride of the movement. Of course, the mechanism isn't as interesting as a fully mechanical movement, but it's a nice touch nonetheless. The mechanism features gold and copper tones with a touch of silver. It's well made, with a gold bolov circle on the inside of the glass that puts the battery to shame. I like it. Although not all roses. The seconds hand doesn't move at 262kHz which was quite a disappointment. Rather, it moves at a frequency of 2 Hz, which clearly shows the ticking and lack of slip. What's more, it doesn't just offer an hourly setting like more accurate clocks. This means that to reset to Daylight Saving Time or a time zone shift, you need to stop the second hand completely, which in turn requires an outside source to recalibrate the time to ensure accuracy. . Each link requires alignment of three parts - the link, the pin, and the inner sleeve. Not impossible, but more painful than many other bracelets. All in all this is a nice watch. Although diamonds may be small, and although the metal does not contain real gold (it's all steel), it's still a marvel to look out for. The 40mm sizing is simply superb and the double curved glass compliments the feminine curves of this piece. The textures of the face evoke an interesting play of shadows when tilted back and forth. I gain confidence in a boyfriend watch while still being feminine and elegant. I love it! Highly recommended.
