OhGeni Orthopedic Large Dog Bed is a great bed for large senior dogs. I chose this bed for a number of reasons including its size and open sides making it easier for my eldest, 130lbs. German shepherd to use. The bed has been vacuum packed in a very small size so you should plan to open it up and let it "rest" and expand to its normal shape and size for at least 12-24 hours. The cover fits perfectly and is easy to put on and take off (I've had beds before where taking the cover off and putting it back on was a nightmare). I have an X-Large size (44" x 32" x 3") and it's big enough to give my 130 lb X-Large dog some room to spare. I really like that it's made out of foam memory foam which is what most dog beds are made out of these days as it's noticeably softer it should also give him some relief as it takes stress off his joints like he's been doing for years to help him fall asleep we hardly had this bed put on the ground he immediately lay down on it and sighed heavily I would say that is his seal approval! Even our 80lb Pitbull loves it I may have to buy another one for him! One of the features mentioned the open sided design is one of the Key features I was also looking for He can easily stand up and climb onto the bed with minimal effort Add to this a waterproof lining (older dogs can get into accidents) and an easily removable and washable cover and it's a great one optional ion for older dogs like ours. I definitely recommend this dog bed, especially if you have an adult dog!
