This is a really pretty top. It's fitted and it's not very transparent (I ordered the white.) Most professionals wear shells under a jacket or sweater, and the fitted top works well in that scenario. The variegated ribbing is really beautiful but it does make the top slightly stiff at the neckline. That could bother some people since it rides higher and does touch the neck. But if you're not sensitive to that sort of thing, it's worth it! I ordered a medium for my mother, but she didn't even try it on because it was obviously an extra small. So, as others have said here, order 2 sizes up. We ordered an extra large for her. She is 5'4, 125 lbs, elderly so she's lost a lot of muscle mass.
