So glad I got this flat head vise for my FoxAlien 3018-SE! My workpieces can be clamped much more easily with it. The small individual clamps that come with the 3018 can be cumbersome to install and get in the way of the spindle. I've seen a few people burn their MOSFET on the control board when their spindle crashed into one of their terminals. With this mini vise there are no protruding bolts above the work piece. It also allows me to engrave small pieces of wood edge to edge as it clamps on the side instead of the top. The 3018 CNCs have a fairly short Z-axis, so a regular vise will not fit. I had to loosen the spindle clamp and raise the spindle as high as possible. I thought the price was a bit high but once I received and used it I realized that you are paying for quality. It is machined from a single piece of aluminum and everything fits very well. I highly recommend this, especially if you are just starting out with CNC, it will save you a lot of trouble clamping your material. It also eliminates the risk of the spindle getting caught in the clamps.
