My mixed hair is greasy at the roots and dry at the ends. Clarifying shampoos and similar products are great for removing buildup on my scalp but can wreak havoc on my drier ends. I was concerned that since this product is an exfoliant it could be worse. I love its texture! It's like a body or face scrub, only for the hair. It's rough but not too aggressive. Although it says it's safe for color treated hair, I still think it can wash out the color. My hair is not currently colored so I can't tell for sure but there is some grit in it. The shampoo is easy to apply and cools the scalp slightly. When I first tried it, I applied it all over my hair. My hair was clean afterwards but it was difficult to manage even after using the conditioner. The next time I tried it I applied the scrub to the scalp only and used my regular shampoo from the middle of the hair to the ends. This worked MUCH better! I apply a good conditioner. I would not recommend this for very dry hair. I let my sister try the scrub but she didn't love it! She has very dry hair, after that she couldn't even comb it! The aroma is quite pleasant - lemony, fresh, invigorating and maybe a little floral. It doesn't stay on your hair after drying. Because the scrub can dry out a bit, I only use it once a week for best results. My hair is clear of all buildup, oil etc and my other products seem to work better afterwards.
