We bought this chair to replace a more streamlined human-scale desk chair. The advantage of this chair is that it has a completely flat bottom cushion, which can be more comfortable for some people when sitting for a long time. Plywood. I recommend being careful not to bang the chair on hard surfaces or it will likely dent/chip the wood veneer. The fabric seat, backrest and sides are made of light gray fabric with good texture. The legs are made of metal with a wood look and are screwed to the underside of the seat with three screws each. The legs have plastic tips so they don't scratch the floor, but I added a half-inch diameter furniture pad to each leg so it slides easily over the hardwood floors. Overall, the chair looks much more expensive than it is and ranks mid-century. style is great. ASSEMBLY NOTE: Some reviewers complained that their chair rocked back and forth on the floor after assembly. It's important to note that there are two different sized legs for the front and back - these are clearly marked on the base to show you where they should be placed. The legs look the same but are not (they are different lengths/angles). My chair sits perfectly flat on the floor and doesn't wobble, so I suspect the wobbly chairs weren't assembled with the legs in the correct position.
