as they were recommended by an orthopedic surgeon for my foot problems

I've been wearing Xelero shoes for 15 years because they were recommended to me by an orthopaedist for foot problems. This is probably my 10th pair as I carry them a lot heavier than they were made. I take them for a walk in the woods every day and they are usually soaking wet at the end of the day. I can't wear hiking boots and Xelero shoes with a good insole allow me to do the exercises I want at 76. It would be great if I could add some kind of rubber covering to them on rainy days, but most people don't wear them like I do.

Pros

XRS adds control, guidance and extra cushioning. The center of gravity shifts due to the natural gait pattern. The XRS system is evolving. The internal control plate provides a stable platform for finger release. The body moves forward and the foot releases.
