I read the reviews and bought it anyway. This is a lovely stool, tedious to assemble but essential if you want it to last. It struck me that the failing stools were probably assembled incorrectly and I'd give the assembler an A for woodworking. Once the screw is fully tightened, turn it an additional 1/4 turn. I've been working with wood since school and have made furniture from scratch. This stool is a nice piece of furniture but if I had left the screws even a little loose I wouldn't expect it to last a month. The wood is good, the fittings are good, the height is right. I had to wrestle with a few bolts to tighten them but now I'm 84 and it's not as easy as it used to be.
