Works great - just watch out for dust

Let me start by saying that I took on this project (replaced my old phone cord with Cat6 and then ran all the phone lines from the central hub with patch panel) I had no idea what i was doing. And so it took me a long time to finally figure out that everything was working as it should. I made sure I had the faulty module and was about to order another (or even a competitor's module). But once I blew the dust out of the ports and hooked everything up properly, this device worked exactly as advertised, handing out phone service to whatever lines I plugged in. In the beginning I knew that I had a good cable from the phone. Box (NID) to my module, but none of the phones in the house had a dial tone, so I was convinced I had a faulty module. But I played around with the connections a bit (plugging and unplugging patch cords, trying different ports, etc.) and to my surprise, a beep came through one of the ports. So I decided to give the whole module a good wipe (my project generated a lot of dust!). And now every port works, and phone service is distributed wherever I send it. I'm off to a dusty work place to give you one more thing to check before you decide this device isn't working. I thought so too and wanted to order another one just to see if I have a bad machine. nope Just dirty - from the dust I created. It's a damn simple device. And I suspect that many of the other "failures" in the beginning (me) were due to dust or accumulated over time (some of the failures, reported later). Treat it like any other sensitive electronics

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Can't remember
