Over the years, dozens of different types of tape have been used. I prefer the thinnest version from Lizard Skins, which was the first brand with a rubberized grip. But at over $40 a roll, it's a bit steep. In the last couple of laps I've switched to this signature Zukka band. It is qualitatively very similar to lizard skins, although it has a hexagonal pattern. Wears out after about a season of fairly regular driving. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the packaging is identical to Lizard Skins. Is it made in the same factory? Who knows. It works and is great value for money.
