Our 14 month old loves it! The feel of the gel is very nice, the changing lights are amazing. And believe it or not, the music (which is optional!) isn't bad. My daughter loves to draw on it and press the button to change colors and songs. We don't have electronics in our house, but we made an exception for that because we were traveling. It has become a staple. It's not gross at all. Don't expect much from the quality of the writing screen. The level of detail is pretty poor. When your child actually writes words, it can be frustrating.
