I got this for needlework and didn't expect it to be so sticky. I currently have it on the back of the framed poster where I hung it on a nail at the top, I used a velcro strip at the bottom to hold the frame in place. Determine how long it will stay on the wall. If all else fails, it can still be used in sewing. I think for a decent price you get two reels, one with a hook and one with a loop. Should last a while, I don't use velcro straps often, but if they stay in place they can replace branded straps.
