Review on Embark on an Epic Space Battle with Star Wars X-Wing Death Star Assault Playmat by Janet Scollins

First of all my son and I love this game and have over thirty ships. As for this product: It is badly described as being necessary for the conversion of the second edition. This is FFG Moneygrab. Everything needed for the conversion could have been included in the faction conversion kits or the much cheaper core conversion kit. Additional dice, range lines are really not needed by many players. So there are many components that are not even found in sufficient quantities in the core rebuild kits and several factions. The 'new' shield brands were not supplied in conversion kits as a mix of old and new was required anyway. The same applies to many other updated tokens. Even though I was already using the new damage deck just on my son, it used up the entire stack while I was using the legacy stack. While I love the conversion, it's exponentially more complex and easily invests $600 in this "challenging" game (I'm not sure you can't play without it). This base set is the first time I've felt that FFG really screwed it up.
