I bought this because I like the starry night sky at night and I wanted the information to be able to simulate it at home. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it felt like I was looking at the sky, but this thing creates a wonderful atmosphere and mood. I first used it during dinner and turned off all other lights. There was enough light for us to be comfortable and it was pretty cool to see the waves and lights all around us. I tried using this in bed and was concerned because my wife is a light sleeper when it comes to lights. Surprisingly, she was able to take it and fall asleep, and I was able to peek at the ceiling before falling asleep (thanks, sleep timer). This is a great device. I love the surging feeling it gives off. Like under water or clouds. This will find many uses in my home, even as a night light to illuminate the kitchen at night.
