I'm a singer and I collect a lot of music. I convert all my music to high quality MP3 files (320kbps minimum), I also do voice overs, so I collect some high quality audiobooks. I'm also a fan of brainwave capture and work with a lot of brainwave files and subliminal guys that are just huge. A 70mb file is not uncommon to me. I also listen to music in Spanish, Korean, Chinese and English. So I need an MP3 player that can easily handle large files, plays true stereo, and has a long battery life. I've tried several different ones, nothing beats the ipod for the money. That doesn't mean all iPods are the same. Mixing, for example, was a terrible waste of my money. So it's not my first iPod and it won't be my last. All in all it was worth the money. I've had this device for 3 years now and I definitely recommend it. However, it cannot be said that it is perfect. The battery doesn't last as long as Apple claims. Even though it has a lot more space than some of the other models, it also has the problem of duplicating your songs. For example, I put all my Michael Jackson albums there. The iPod seems to love MJ even more than I do because every time I delete and re-upload almost all of his songs are duplicated 6 times! For example, right now I have 400 MJ songs according to my Ipod. Now, this doesn't happen to every artist (which is an interesting phenomenon in itself), but when you have over 100 gigabytes of music to store, it can be quite problematic. It also has some stuttering or skipping when playing audiobooks. It also just doesn't list specific albums or artists. For example, when I look at Performers on my iPod, there is no mention of Paul Cole. When I search for their albums in the albums section, they are not listed. The only way I can play Paula Cole on my iPod is through quest. I use the search function and here it is! So it does have some minor hiccups. But he plays pretty much anything I throw at him. It has a fantastic search engine. Unlike some iPod models, this one handles foreign language song titles very well, you can even drop it once or twice without having to go back to the store. In order for it to work well, you now have to restore it, delete it and re-download it regularly. But in the end I feel like it was money well spent, it has served me well since 2008 and I recommend this product without a problem. By the way, Revain had the best price.
