First I ordered them because I have a wide neck and most shirts that fit loose around my body are tight around my neck when buttoned up. They are much more comfortable for me at work, but they are not suitable for clip ties. Unfortunately, my job requires me to wear a tie pin in case I get into a fight, and the tie pin breaks immediately so I don't get strangled. But usually without an extension, the tie clip fits snugly at the top and can't be said to be a tie clip. These extensions drop the tie about 1/8 inch and people can clearly see that it's buttoned. But after putting on the extensions and feeling the added comfort, I don't know if I even care that people know it's a clip.
