Review on πŸŽ’ JanSport Hatchet Laptop Backpack Expedition - The Ultimate Laptop Backpack Solution by Lauren Yazzie

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for the traveling student!

I've had the backpack for a month and a half and so far everything is holding up very well. I'll address what worries me most about the backpack and address each of these parts. Major: Will my tech and school stuff fit in? (4/5) Being in college I need a backpack that will fit everything from gym clothes to lunch to books/laptops. This backpack can *probably* hold all of those things, depending on how many things you have. Personally, I can fit shorts and a shirt, as well as a small textbook, two laptops (a 13-inch MacBook Air and a 12-inch Surface Pro plus chargers), a couple of rolled-up laptops, a pencil case, a glasses suitcase, my lunch and more. Little space left. While this is great for my purposes, I see people who have a higher study load (more textbooks/laptops) or cosmetics/additional technology/etc. bring along. can have quite an overstuffed backpack. It does NOT hold the binding comfortably. The backpack is actually quite narrow, so for people who use large folders, this backpack is probably not the best idea. Because it's a top cargo, the best way to organize and access your items is to lay them flat and then unzip them, otherwise some things might fall out! For people who want to use it as a day bag or travel backpack, you can probably put 3-4 days' worth of clothes in the main compartment, and it's also the perfect carry-on bag on the plane. Side Pockets: Will it fit my giant water bottle? Umbrella? European daylight saving time? (5/5) One of the biggest concerns I had was whether my 32 oz. The Hydroflask fits conveniently in a water bottle pocket. And so it is! Not only that, but the side compression buckles (which I don't use for actual compression) but to keep everything I put in these bags nice and secure so things aren't going to fall out for sure. Where I go to school it rains quite often so an umbrella is a must. It fits well in the second pocket and leaves plenty of room in the other, so I usually carry an extra plastic bag with me for used gym clothes and the like. The pocket on the front flap is quite roomy (the size of the entire flap) and I usually slip in a few towels/napkins and sometimes my phone for easy access. The left water bottle pocket also has a nifty little side zipper that I put my headphones in. You can also keep your bus pass, keys, lip balm or anything else you need there for quick access. Front and inner pockets: Can I use all feminine hygiene products? Can I put my keys in? Is it as comfortable as a traditional backpack? (4.5/5) Yes! In the small front pocket I can stow my bag with pads, deodorant and first aid kit and still have room for other small items. I don't recommend putting anything inside that needs quick access as the zipper can be a bit finicky at times and difficult to open and close all the time. Inside there are several slots for a mobile phone, an external battery and pens. , business cards, etc. (plus a fleece-lined tablet pocket!). I like to connect an external battery and pull the charger out through a hole (for a water bladder) at the top of the bag. It is very practical and allows you to put everything together. I didn't find this backpack particularly difficult or annoying to open, just different. The only difficulty is that you have to unzip the entire zip to access everything inside (but then again, most people still have to do this with a traditional zip). The zipper is pretty smooth so opening the bag isn't that difficult. Judging by other reviews, some models do not have a hole for a water bladder. I ordered blue and red and it really was! So using this *specific* one I bought for hiking would be ideal. Overall Durability (5/5): I haven't had a single issue with durability yet. Again, I've only had it for a month and a half. But I carry it with me everywhere and as I am currently traveling abroad I would say it requires normal daily wear. I'm not a fan of using a backpack loop at the top so I haven't had any issues with this tear yet. The shoulder pad is very comfortable. It feels like there's a thick gel material inside that's covered in sweat-wicking fabric. All in all if you are a student looking for a nice backpack I would definitely recommend it! Note: I'm 5'4" and the backpack (at least I think so) doesn't look too bulky on me.
