Sennheiser is quite a respected name among audiophiles but I don't consider myself an audiophile and won't try to speak as one. These are now one of the cheapest headphones Sennheiser has to offer, but don't let that fool you: these headphones are a moderate force that should be viewed with caution. I'm a gamer and I make music at home so I use it quite a bit. The padding makes them quite comfortable and I can safely say that I can wear them without pain (maybe 2 hours). much longer than I could with her brother HD202 (maybe 30 minutes). I have a big head now. It's likely to be considered very large, which brings me to the sad part: the bass response. These headphones lack EQ to blow your brain with bass, and rightly so - it's not exactly Sennheiser style. In fact, they're a pretty good contender for super cheap headphones with a flat frequency response. However, the bass has a problem (at least on my head). When I just have the headphones on and I'm mastering EQs or some of my music, the bass is actually quite weak, but when I press the headphones gently to my ears the bass is actually quite nice -- not muffled or too bright. Having to press them to my head to hear the bass adequately is the loss of 1 star. This problem may be due to the size of my head, but still. Well, another issue I had with this pair of headphones (and the two HD202s I've had before them) is the cable. This is a very thin wire protected by a standard cheap rubber wire protection material. All of these headphones started failing in one ear after about a year. The chord at the end, at the pole, was bent inwards too much (or something like that). As a result, these headphones have a lifespan of about a year. That's another star minus. BUT the price. I paid $23 for a pair of headphones with an almost flat frequency response. 23 dollars. The sound quality you get with these $23 headphones is truly outstanding. If you're on a budget but need a decent pair of headphones these guys are for you. Well, if you're a teenager who just wants some bass, this isn't for you. This is more for musicians who need to hear themselves or their music more closely. The incredibly low price made me give the star I took away. Pros: - Accurate sound reproduction - Comfortable - Dingy cheap Cons: - Sound in the bass range is a little less than optimal if you have a head like mine - Durability: The wire will probably last a year
