I bought this to use on a light travel tripod. Not only is it lighter than the ball head that comes with the tripod because it doesn't have a protruding adjustment knob, the legs fold in tighter than before, saving space. The head tightens well and there is no movement when using my medium sized DSLR and lens up to 200mm. Using the quick release plate that comes with the ball head makes turning the camera on and off very fast, faster than the Arca/Swiss plate. Great purchase and does exactly what I was hoping for.
