Just received this product 3 days ago and already sent it back. I have a waist band that I love, but I signed up for an online nutrition program and have to measure my waist several times a week. I thought it would be easier to have a digital version. This one was over an inch different than the version I own. And since this digital version also has a tape measure to read, I checked it out. The tape measure was at least 1/2 inch smaller than the digital one. And depending on how hard you pushed the retract button to make it fit snugly around your waist, the readings will vary. My old one also had a release button to make it comfortable to press, but you could only press so hard and it was always consistent. This digital one that could be pressed very hard to dig into the skin for a smaller waist size. Or don't press hard at all and get a different reading. I tried it 20 times and each time a different reading. And yes, I have read the instructions.
