It was a great idea. I love it. I've actually thought about it myself several times. And here it is! Well, unfortunately, this great idea doesn't work very well in practice. To use it you have to bend the silicone back around the oil, spread the oil and then pull the silicone back around the oil. It's like partially flipping it inside out and twisting it back every time, and there's no easy way to do that. Silicone is difficult to bend around butter. It takes a little work to get your fingers oily every time. I really wish this would work better as I really liked the concept. I think if there was a way to squeeze out the oil and put it back in without getting your fingers tangled that would be nice. That's not it.
