its material starts to peel off after 5 years of use. Instructions for replacement were clear. The inner driver cover pad barely fits the AE2's space, and while it comes with large adhesive pads, it also has foam padding over the bottom driver where the originals have cutouts. With minimal effort I inserted and installed new pads. The outer material is close to the original. The foam is firmer than the original but may soften with use. Their major disadvantage is that when they are put on they *whistle* and the foam starts to blow and the air comes out. The design of the headphones is not sealed in any way, but they shouldn't whistle, it's loud and annoying when put on. They're about half the price of an original Bose replacement kit, and it shows why. I'll probably just go with the original set if they don't settle down and soften.
