Installed an inexpensive dimmable bulb from the hardware store to fit a very small alcove. With an ordinary lightbulb, you could see the cartridge and the bright filament of the lightbulb. Swapped out the standard bulb for this globe and it works great. It looks like part of a light fitting that enhances the look. At full brightness, the eyes do not cut. And kind of what I needed, if you look up you don't see the output hardware anymore. Also the fact that the top of the sphere is opaque so no light falls directly on the top of the fixture or the ceiling. Beautiful view. I was concerned when I first opened the package because the globe looks like cheap plastic. However, if it were glass, it would be very heavy. It is a one-piece sphere with an LED light bulb inside. You cannot see this lightbulb whether it is on or off. Also, once you screw it in, you don't know that the globe is plastic. In the photo it is shaded. I can recommend it.
