I was putting new tiles on top of old tiles in the shower and had to raise the drain to make it fit. It was a simple and inexpensive solution to the problem. I just put it on top of my existing drain cap and used the same screws to go through both. It has no frame and if I have to open it the cement mortar around it may crack and it will need repairs. It's not really important and I'll take care of it when the time comes. For now it looks and works well and doesn't cost much.
