First of all it says it lights up and plays music. That's kind of true, depending on your idea of "lighting" it has a little red light that lights up at her feet. I assumed the lights would be where the child could see them and get their attention if kicked. Not correct. The principle of operation is the same as without light. The toys are cute. The mirror is small, only the child can see in it - it is not intended for parents to see their child. It plays music when you step your feet. Essentially, you're paying for hanging toys that play music. It cost me $32 which is a steep price for what it does. I would recommend shopping there.
