Never wrote reviews. I've been buying from Revain since about 1990. I rented a Cadillac with a backup camera. And it got me hooked. I have a 1993 Chevrolet Impala. I buy most of these things through Revain. I looked at the reviews and although this backup system only had 2 reviews at the time, the reviews were very positive. I bought the system and was very satisfied. I posted some pictures of the build. My name, Michael, appears in the title of each of my publications. Here are some installation instructions. First, allow several hours for the installation. But I think this time is well invested. The kit includes two license plate screws, these are required, the OEM screws are too short. The screws worked fine. The instructions said to drill an 11/32 inch hole for the wire. If you look at the pictures I uploaded, the connector on the wire is about Β½ inch in diameter. So an 11/32 hole will fit the wire, but the plug will not go through the hole. The supplied grommet is designed for hole 11/32 and fits exactly on the wire. 11/64" wire. Throw out the bushing as it won't work. I went to the local hardware store and bought a bushing that fits in a half hole. Most hardware stores have Hillman change boxes. I have a "Hillman " bushing. The inside diameter of the sleeve was about 3/8" in diameter. The bushing snaps easily onto the fork. You can see the fork, collar, and quarter in my hand in one of the pictures. After you do the After placing the hub on the fork, install the hub and then pull the fork back through the hub Tapered plug I put the fork into the socket and it sealed well See the photo that says "Michael" The sensors are shown in one of the pictures labeled "Michael". Texas license plates are embossed. I believe most license plates are embossed. I scored the license plate to fit the left and right grooves. N / A After I aligned the plate, it snapped into place perfectly. The camera photo tagged by Michael shows the wire from the back of the camera. I found it necessary to cut a notch in the license plate for the wire. I started installing the license plate without cutting out the cutout; However, the license plate began to cut the wire. If you look closely you can see the notch. I measured the cable from the license plate to the monitor. The length of the wire was about 18 feet. I routed the cable through the back of my exit, down the side of the trunk, under the back seat, along the side door molding, up the left front door molding, through the fuse box, and to the dash. I have about a meter and a half of wire left over. The instructions say if you need additional wire, call 1-800-835-0129. I have a feeling that you can't just beef up the wire with wire from the hardware store, I have a feeling that you were patient and knew what you were doing, you can splice the wire. The monitor is small; However, one of the reasons I bought this item was that I wanted a small monitor. The picture is very clear. If in my rented Cadillac the picture was 10, then with this device it was 8. The picture is very sufficient. I drove the car on a moonless night and there are enough reversing lights to give you a clear picture on the monitor. There are about 6 boxes at the top of the screen. As you approach an item, the outer boxes will solidify and a beep will sound. As you get closer, the next inner set of boxes will be sold and the beep will be louder, as you get closer to the object, the inner set of boxes will be fixed and the beep will be louder. I hit a fire hydrant. The inner box on the left was tight when I was about 1 foot from the hydrant. The hydrant was closest to the left side of the car. I've attached a photo of the vinyl sheet protecting the screen. You can see the rectangles in this image and get an idea of the screen size. When you look at the screen, the items to your right appear on the right side of the screen. The reversing system on a Cadillac I rented had yellow lines at varying distances from the car. There are no lines in this system. I live in Houston. After I installed the camera, we had a very strong thunderstorm. The thunderstorm occurred on or about January 9, 2012. Along with the thunderstorm, a tornado struck near the Mall of the Mainland. The Mainland mall is in Texas City, about 15 miles from me. This heavy downpour did not damage the camera. I find this system to be worth the money and am very happy with my purchase. I also suggest you read my review carefully before installing this system. I feel like I can install the next system about Β½ times faster. I am planning to install it in my wife's car. I told my wife that backup camera was my Impala. Converter Cadillac, I feel like I have a rear view monitor that is close to what I saw in the new Cadillac. If changing a lightbulb in a car is difficulty 1 and overloading and engine is difficulty 5 then I would suggest this project as either high difficulty 2 or low difficulty 3. If you feel like you can install a hitch and wire the trailer I suggest you do. Update, check out my detailed picture of the wiring with my name Michael in the caption. I felt I should run the ground wire for this system along the body of the car. This image shows the product's ground wire running through the body of my car. It is very important that the product's red wire is connected to your vehicle's power supply. In this case I connected the red wire to the reverse light "hot/positive" wire. I suggest you go the extra mile to route the ground wire from this system to the body of your vehicle.
