I have 2 other 80w GVM models and am happy with them so I bought this 100w model because it has adjustable color temperature. This is a great feature when you're working with a photo or video in an environment that already has existing lighting that you want to adjust. Output power is actually almost identical to the base 80W model (which doesn't have color temperature control or remote control capabilities). Both put out a very usable amount of light, which I measured at around 16.4EV at ISO 400. It's a relative number so please don't use it for scientific comparisons :-) We use the light for live video in our church and churches. The silence of the fan is very important. It's barely noticeable at a foot distance and measures 35 dB on average. It's also with little traffic noise from outside, but is still classified as a 'quiet library'. lighting in the room. If you prefer more controlled and direct lighting you can use any Bowens light modifier and I have others in my stash that I can easily swap out if needed. The light quality is clear and stable, and the color looks very accurate. The digital display for color temperature and power level is useful for accurately reflecting lighting settings. I haven't used the remote app yet as it's not really needed in our situation, but it's a nice feature if you want to adjust the lights on the fly while filming or when in a tight spot. What could be improved? • The adjustable mount feels a little flimsy, but it works well and isn't flimsy. • The mount could balance heavier modifiers better if it could slide back and forth to find the best balance point. • The light modifier came out of the box with a few loose screws on the speed ring, but they were easily replaced. What is good? • Amazing light and functionality for this price • Quiet fan works well for video work where noise needs to be kept to a minimum. .• The flashlight itself makes a very solid and durable impression. • Digital control for easy repetition of settings. • The standard Bowens mount fits many other modifiers. • Outstanding color accuracy and light quality.
