Taming the Wild 'Stache

When my mustache is so long that the hair hangs over my upper lip, waxing is a must. If you have a long mustache, you know what I'm talking about: Eating and drinking anything other than water and bread is pretty uncomfortable when you know you'll be wearing it in your facial hair until the next time you wash your face. This is where mustache wax comes in. In fact, there are no alternatives to wax. The hair gel is too crunchy and not strong enough to control thicker facial hair; Lipstick is too oily and not thick enough to hold hair in place. It must be wax. And if it's wax, then Clubman is better. I've tried different brands of wax - here's what makes Clubman different: 1. Consistency: Clubman comes out of the tube like a thick cream. It can be easily spread over the mustache with the included comb. It's also easy to apply with your fingertips when you need to touch up the tips or edges of your mustache.2. Thickness: Thick enough to hold individual hairs together.3. Stickiness: Clubman is only slightly sticky, which is perfect for giving your mustache a smooth, edgy shape.4. Longevity: You'll get a decent supply for the whole day. If you like to keep everything super clean you may need to touch up your hair from time to time, but if you're not worried about the occasional stray hair, one use will get you through the day. Aroma: Has a pleasant citrus aroma, but not overpowering. Cons: 1. Neutral colored wax can leave a little white residue if you don't comb it very, very carefully. Not moisture resistant. If you drink a lot from a cup (e.g., draft beer at a party or in a bar), you'll need to top up at least every few hours. Once you start using it, you'll feel naked without it. A few tips for using Clubman: Start by applying a generous amount (the size of a pea) to each side of your mustache and patting just under your nose. . Comb it down to the tips of the mustache. Most of the wax will come out with the comb, so not a lot of buildup builds up. Wipe excess wax off the comb with your fingertip and reapply to the mustache, brushing again until the comb comes out with no wax residue. This will give you a solid foundation. Then use your fingertips to shape the mustache along the lip line, twisting the ends if desired. Finally, rub a very small amount between index and thumb fingers and apply directly to the roots and ends of the hair. My facial hair is harder to control, so I've found that repeating the process after about 20 minutes increases the hold significantly.
