The quality is spoiled, the product is bad.

This adapter, judging by the description, is probably one of the best to date. I was also a victim of this description. Used the adapter for a little over a year with a new MacBook Pro 16, 2022. I used it constantly, that is, daily for 8 or more hours, since I use a laptop for work. Yes, it performs its functions, but it does it clearly not properly. 1. A 2K monitor was connected via HDMI at a refresh rate of 30Hz. Almost every day, or even several times a day for 4-8 seconds, the image on the monitor simply disappeared. 2. A patch cord was connected to the adapter from the gigabit hub. The adapter kept the speed in gigabit, but at a relatively high load (for example, copying a large number of files over the network plus a call to skype), the connection simply broke. In order to restore it, it was necessary to completely restart the MacBook. 3. A 2 TB Seagate Backup Plus drive was connected to USB, periodically the drive also fell off, it was necessary to disconnect it and connect it again. Working with this adapter is a lottery and hassle. First, he sinned on the macbook itself, cleared SMC / NVRAM, even reinstalled MacOS from scratch. Then he abandoned the LAN connection, installing a Wi-Fi extender for better WiFi coverage. And then, tired of eternal problems, I bought a Chinese adapter to connect a monitor and a USB drive, which works flawlessly and at the same time costs 5 times cheaper. Perhaps I was unlucky and got a marriage, but the family has another adapter from Satechi, and there are problems with it too.

Pros
  • Compact size, metal body, large number of connectors
Cons
  • Unreasonably high price, flimsy aluminum case, unstable operation, high heat
