With this thermometer we get readings in all directions. Luckily, the return process began just before the time window expired. My son's forehead reading is between 99.5 and 101. Then the ear reading is 97.5. We kept him away from school for 2 days and finally took him to the doctor for the accompanying cold. The doctor's ear thermometer read 98.7 in both ears. Came home, tried again and got over 100 on my forehead. Finally borrowed a friend's forehead thermometer tonight and read 98.7 on several spots on his forehead. wrong tool. I would not recommend this clinical thermometer. Also, why are there different settings for different ages?! Isn't your temperature your temperature, regardless of your age?
