After 2 bad experiences with battery operated candles this fall I had little hope for them. It turns out I'm very impressed. Bought the "Yellow" option. The color is warm, like a real candle, maybe even a little warmer. I fire them the day after Thanksgiving, work for them 8 hours a day, it's Christmas and they're all still working. At the moment it's about 250 hours. I have them in small mercury cup holders, maybe 2.5 inches high. They are quite large and you can actually see the top of the candle. I also have them in 6-7 inch tall holders. They give the big ones a lot of light. The picture is clear, there is flicker. The flames don't look real, so it's best to keep them in a larger holder where you won't notice them as much. I will buy another set. UPDATE JANUARY 16. They're still running on the same batteries as Thanksgiving.
