How to create audiophile music: (with some limitations on detail quality)

Updated August 31, 2019: The detail quality of these filters varies greatly. The housing itself, as mentioned in my original post, is very durable and arguably the best part of the filter. The filter circuit itself looks good and neatly assembled in my experience. The noise filter circuitry does its job very well for the price and in that sense it is good value for money. Sockets are the weakest link. The sockets are not very tight, so that heavy cables may not be tight and can only fall out under their own weight if pulled at an angle. I blew out one of the power LEDs although the filter still works. Again, for the money, they can make a difference. I'll continue the update at the end of the original post below: a studio with quality gear. While everything sounded decent, I didn't get that "audiophile thrill". Back in the Jurassic I worked with a couple of guys at Golden Ear designing and selling power filters for them. We've found that placing each device on a separate filter produces the best results. The power supplies in most devices pollute each other, sometimes a little, sometimes quite a bit. Unfortunately, making such filters is quite expensive for me these days. I decided to experiment with these filters based on some user feedback from trusted sources. I initially bought three of these: one for a studio monitor power amp, one for a digital to analog converter, and one for a computer interface. What are the results? I just ordered another batch of three filters. Audiophile Warning: The average person can add a filter to their system and probably be pretty happy, depending on your ears and the quality of the gear and how "mushy" it sounds. The force is in your place. Some people may not notice anything. For the highly sensitive audiophile, adding three filters to my system improved sound quality in one of the most important (to me) areas. tired ears Everything sounds cleaner, the presentation is lighter. Small details are more visible. We're talking about the last 10% of audiophiles. Your mileage may vary but I just bought three more filters to use on the record side of the chain. Buying six filters adds up to about $1,000 by the time you're done. That's less than half the cost of one of my devices and improves the performance of all of them. I like to think of it as a $170 upgrade for each device. I couldn't assemble my own filters for that cost, and the build quality of the housing wouldn't be as solid either. It's worth it in my opinion, but I understand most people would rather just try one filter and stop there. :)========================= So now we've come to the end of the original post. These filters inspired me to redesign my original filters and I've started removing the internals and using a great housing to support my own filters. It's very labor intensive and quite expensive in terms of parts, but for my use it's worth it. So are the original Chinese filters still worth it? I think so for the price. Are my own filters better for sound quality in these cases, yes, but if I were to sell them I would have to charge at least $800 each. There will be a very limited audience for such an extreme audiophile filter. So $179 apiece, or whatever the current price of a standard Chinese filter is, I still think it's a good price as long as the quality of the circuitry or the quality of other parts doesn't suddenly drop. You never know which factory is making a particular batch of filters.
